Kenyan YouTubers are smiling to the bank as days when they shared videos on YouTube for fun are gone.

With monetisation in place, content creators are raking in millions through sponsored content that involves placing adverts on their videos.

In Kenya, YouTube noted content creators can earn up to US$10,000 (KSh 1.4 million) monthly for uploading short 15-second videos, The East African reported.

“Creators can receive up to $10,000 (KSh 1.4 million) based on viewership and engagement of their short content. To qualify, channels must meet the minimum eligibility requirements refreshed each month to give other creators the opportunity to receive a reward for their creative and unique Shorts,” YouTube stated.

YouTubers have built or acquired multi-million houses after their success in creating engaging content.

1. Miss Trudy

Before venturing into content creation, Gertrude Awino Njeri Juma, known as Miss Trudy worked as a supermarket attendant.

The YouTuber revealed she made a meagre KSh 10,000 per month before she was fired from her job.

Miss Trudy did not make a single coin a year after joining YouTube but now makes over KSh 1 million monthly.

In August 2022, Miss Trudy revealed she was the newest homeowner in town after purchasing an apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi, worth KSh 5 million.

"I'm finally getting the keys to my first property in Kilimani. This property was worth KSh 5 million, and I have been saving up for a whole year. Here is the beginning of my real estate journey," she said.

2. Thee Pluto

Kenyan YouTuber Robert Ndegwa Kamau, popularly referred to as Thee Pluto, is one of the most successful content creators in the country.

In an interview with Mutembei, he disclosed he made his first million aged 20. Apart from content creation, he's a musician producing Kikuyu songs. He also invested in the crypto business, forex and cereals.

"As Kikuyus, we don't speak about our wealth). We count blessings so that God can add us more. I was turning 20 when I made my first million," he recalled.

The 23-year-old YouTuber has built a five-bedroomed palatial mansion where he lives with his girlfriend Felicity ‘Shiru’ Wanjiru, also a content creator.

The mansion's value is estimated at KSh 10 million. It features modern security features including a ding doorbell.

3. Eve Mungai

The 22-year-old YouTuber earns an average of KSh 1.5 million monthly from her videos, Pulse Live reported.

In July 2022, she surpassed 100 million views on the platform with the help of her boyfriend Trevor, a director.

Mungai and Trevor have used proceeds from YouTube to acquire a two-bedroom house in Kileleshwa, one of the oldest affluent neighbourhoods in Nairobi.

4. I am Marwa's palatial mansion

In February, I am Marwa wowed netizens with an update on how his posh mansion was coming along.

He took his fans around the building while explaining what he planned to do with the interior.

In his recent video on his Instagram, Marwa showed how huge the house is before sliding the glass door open to get in.

Njugush's house

In other news, 32-year-old comedian Njugush is blessed with a huge mansion, and he says he walks around it daily, and it has become a routine for him.

The content creator noted that he couldn't believe it was his, and every day as he opened his eyes, he could not believe he owned a house.

His wife Wakavinye gave fans a clear glimpse of their stunning mansion's interior.

The mother of two displayed their spacious living room, fabulous dining room with exquisite interior and decor.
