The distressing tale of Rodney Charles Delorie, a DJ from Meru, continues to unfold as the dire living conditions of his family persist, despite reaching out to the community for assistance.

Dj's family challenges run deeper than anticipated

The situation has only worsened since his last plea for help, leaving Rodney and his family in a desperate struggle for survival.

Last week, Lewis Njeru, a well-known community worker and environmentalist, shared the story of Rodney on Facebook, hoping to garner support for the struggling family.

Though some aid was provided by his MojaMoja Initiative, consisting of a little food and one month's rent payment, the family's challenges ran deeper than anticipated.

Living in a rented single room in Meru, Rodney lost his job during COVID-19, further complicating his life after becoming a father.

The DJ's already difficult situation is exacerbated by a lack of reliable relatives, as he hails from a broken family background.

DJ Rodney comes from broken family

"Dj lost his job during COVID-19 season...then became a dad, that is how he got stuck," said Mwiti adding Rodney's late mother was Kalenjin, while his late father was of Seychellois origin.
"He lost touch with his step siblings from dad's side and he told me from his late mother's side he has not been accepted, hence he has no reliable relatives," said Mwiti.

Despite these hardships, Rodney possesses various skills, including cooking, driving, DJ and trained as a masseuse.

His wife, who graduated with a degree in Criminology and IT, has also fallen on hard times after losing her job four months ago.

In their relentless pursuit to survive, the couple now takes on menial jobs to make ends meet.

No employment opportunities coming up

Njeru, who goes by the name Mwiti Lee, further told TUKO.co.ke he has personally been involved in trying to secure job opportunities for Rodney within the entertainment industry.

Regrettably, no significant employment opportunities have materialised thus far.

The family's tumultuous backgrounds have made their journey towards stability and self-sufficiency an uphill battle, leading them to desperately seek support to provide a better life for their young child.

"We have managed to pay their one-month rent arrears, and someone has kindly promised a bed. Additionally, we've provided them with a small supply of foodstuffs," Mwiti Lee revealed.
"However, the challenges they face are far from over."

Appealing for further assistance

Mwiti Lee passionately appeals to the public for further assistance, urging everyone to contribute in any way possible.

The family is in dire need of essential items, such as beds, furniture, mattresses, and additional food supplies.

Moreover, they require the support of a therapist to help them navigate the psychological toll of their hardships.

"Any little coin you have, join me for the sake of that innocent kid, we become a blessing to this family. We can choose to bless this united family, that has stuck together in thick and thin.," Mwiti Lee implored.

DJ Rodney bedridden after motorbike accident

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported the once high-flying entertainer, surrounded by friends and fans, is now a lonely man wallowing in poverty and depression.

The loving husband and dotting father of one has been with no job or a steady source of income to support his family.

The disc jockey's problems do not end there as he was involved in a motorbike accident two weeks ago that had him bedridden for a number of days.

He discloses that despite the injuries sustained, he has not been able to go for medical check-ups because he cannot afford the bill at the moment.
