She was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital for treatment.

While condemning the violence in which Maina got injured, the National Assembly Speaker called for thorough investigations that would see the culprits being brought to book.

"Maina is responding well to treatment at the hospital. She recounted to us the ordeals of the unfortunate incident that caused her serious injuries. I thank the doctors at the hospital for the medical attention they have given to our colleague and we wish her a quick recovery.
I reiterate that the National Assembly calls for thorough investigations by police officers into the matter. We condemn any form of violence to anybody, regardless of their standing in society," said Wetang'ula.

On Tuesday, the police were engaged in running battles in Kerugoya town after the said group of rowdy youth disrupted the MP's meeting.

Waiguru's alleged hand in chaos

Njeri linked the attack with Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru who she claimed is the one that sent the goons.

"The governor should go. She is remaining with only four years. His people have injured a woman," the woman rep said.

Njeri said they walked on foot after they noticed a commotion in the town and found a woman that had been attacked.

"We decided to walk on foot because they had injured one woman. We decided to take them using the route behind the stage. Uncountable youth on a motorbike surrounded us. I am bleeding, but I must stand for the people of Kirinyaga because I am a resident and was elected here," she said.

The lawmaker stated that she would not be deterred from fighting for her constituents to access water and other amenities.
