Pastor Daniel Mureithi's church

The local residents had been familiar with Pastor Mureithi and his church, yet they claimed they had never witnessed the kind of activity that was unfolding within the walls of his residence.

The pastor had allegedly asserted that he was conducting a deliverance session for the ailing woman.

However, the residents quickly emphasised that they had never seen or experienced such deliverance practices before.

The incident came to light when the noise from the pastor's house grew too loud to be ignored.

Concerned about the woman's well-being and the unusual activity transpiring inside, the residents wasted no time raising the alarm.

Their swift action led to the rescue of the 61-year-old woman, who was found in a distressing state.

"When we got here, we found a 61-year-old woman, blood was oozing from her body like water. Blood and flesh had filled a basin besides the bed. After investigations, we noticed that the woman was brought here by her daughter after she was told her mother needed to undergo operation. She has been here for one week," a woman said.

Upon entering the house, a harrowing scene awaited the rescuers. The woman was lying on a bed, her frail form ravaged by illness.

Shockingly, blood was reportedly oozing from her body, creating an alarming pool around her.

The discovery of a basin filled with blood and pieces of flesh near the bed was even more unsettling.

The woman had been under the care of Pastor Daniel Mureithi for approximately one week, during which these disturbing events unfolded.

The dire state of the woman prompted immediate action, and she was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for much-needed medical attention.

Paul MacKenzie's survivor: Husband buried victims

In other news, a survivor of the Shakahola cult by controversial pastor Paul MacKenzie has lived to tell the story.

According to a report by DW, the survivor, Salama Masha, had just started rebuilding her life after a terrifying ordeal in Shakahola.

Masha said she joined the MacKenzie cult in March 2020 when the government announced the country's first coronavirus case.

"During the coronavirus pandemic, the preacher told us we needed to live in the wilderness. He said Huduma Namba would come, and everyone needed to be careful since the chips were evil. The gospel started creeping into me," Masha narrated.

She said by the time she was being evangelised to and convinced to join the Shakahola congregation, her husband was already an official in the cult.
