Nairobi - A family living in Githurai 44 is in distress after their Grade One son sustained life-threatening injuries during a school trip.
Caleb Odanga has been admitted to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital's (KUTRRH) intensive care since he was injured on Tuesday, August 8.

Stephen Maina Githua, a relative of the boy, said they had been informed of minimal activity in Caleb's brain.

Mwangi Odanga, Caleb's father, said he could not sign the consent knowing that it would be a death sentence for his son.
"If I sign that, I am sending my son to the grave. On the other hand, they're just holding him in that state. If at all there is a possibility that the child can get treatment, which we believe, it's our faith that there is still hope," he told Citizen TV.
Doctors at the hospital have explained to the family that Caleb sustained a severe head injury after he got into an accident during a school playing trip at the Destiny Gardens in Ruiru.
"When they tied him in the big merry-go-round, the child fell off the top and fell to the ground," Mwangi added.
Who's to blame for Caleb's accident
The young boy's family have blamed the school’s administration for turning its back on them after bringing him to the hospital.
Lucy Matunda, Caleb's aunt, claimed that the school officials refused to meet them, adding that they were not around.
“They can’t have a meeting with us. Sisi tuliwapa mtoto wetu akiwa mzima, wakaturudishia akiwa ICU,” she cried.
Hilda Mwangi, the director at Greens Angels Academy, defended herself, adding that they were ready to help the school.
The management of Destiny Gardens said it was unfortunate what happened to Caleb, but the merry-go-round swing was in good shape, and all the safety measures were upheld when the children visited the place.
