An officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has revealed that slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno received threatening messages from a woman.
The student, who by the time of her murder was pregnant, is alleged to have been in a romantic relationship with former Migori governor Okoth Obado who is implicated in her killing.
During the court proceeding on Tuesday, July 25, DCI officer Ezekiel Ade said a woman, whose identity was not revealed, sent threatening messages to Sharon, promising her dire consequences should she fail to leave her husband alone, Citizen TV reported.
In some of the messages, the mysterious woman said:

“I have to do for you the worst I can irrespective of the cost it's going to take; you will not walk away with it. Idiot. Gold digger. Please, I'm requesting that you leave my husband alone.”
She added that Sharon would "pay this dearly", adding that she resented her for snatching away her husband.
The DCI detective did not reveal the husband the woman was referring to.
Further, the detective who was on the witness stand said Sharon might have saved Okoth Obado as "honey" in her phone. In some of their messages, she informed him about their unborn child.
"Your baby is kicking. It's as if he is playing football in my womb," she told him, and in his response, he told her that he would not allow her to blackmail him.
Sharon Otieno's close relationship with his son
A few days ago, the court was told how Obado was uncomfortable with the close relationship between the late Sharon Otieno and his son.
A witness testifying in the proceedings of Sharon's murder case told the court that Obado suspected his son named Dan, had a romantic relationship with Sharon.
The witness told Justice Cecilia Githua that the former Migori governor was uncomfortable sharing a girlfriend with his son as it was taboo in their community.
