"In the government that we are in, we do something called one government approach. Kindiki should not be here to transfer the OCS that is here. I am a Cabinet secretary in the government of William Ruto, when I stand here I represent the president. I am here and directing the county commandant where he is should transfer OCS Matisi by tomorrow (Sunday, July 30),"
According to a video published by NTV, The incident that sparked this unexpected development was the untimely demise of one of Nakhumicha's former bodyguards.
According to her, the member of her security detail was murdered by unknown people in the area.
"Thugs brutally murdered Joseph; he was a very industrious young man and a role model to many across Trans Nzoia," she said.
Security matters in Trans Nzoia
The Cabinet secretary asked the security systems in the area to ensure conclusive investigations and that the suspects are brought to book.
"I urge the security personnel within the area to ensure the culprits are apprehended and brought to book. The security of all Trans Nzoia residents and that of all Kenyans is a fundamental right," the CS said.
The details surrounding the bodyguard's death remain under investigation, and the authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
However, the Health Cabinet Secretary's swift action in calling for the transfer of the OCS raises eyebrows and points to a potentially deeper constitutional issue on whether she has the powers to hire, fire or effect changes in the National Police Service.
