Hashim Msuya and his wife, Lilian Kunda, are mourning the sudden death of their four children following a road accident.

The four siblings, Neechi, Norah, Diana, and Sia, died on the spot following the Friday, August 4, road carnage.

They were heading from Dar es Salaam to Kilimanjaro Same to attend another funeral of their younger relative where their dad had gone ahead.

At the time of the crash, their vehicle, a Toyota Prado, was being driven by Neechi, with the three sisters as passengers.

It collided with a Scania truck from Dar es Salaam heading to Arusha at Mapatano Village, Mbwewe Ward, Bagamoyo District.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Lugoba Health Center for examination before being transported to the Lugalo Military Hospital, where loved ones received them.

The Police Commander of Pwani Region, Assistant Commissioner Pius Lutumo, stated that the accident was caused by the negligence of the Prado driver, who switched lanes from the left to the right, resulting in the collision with the Scania truck.

"The cause of the accident was a small car’s sudden shift from one side of the road, which caused a head-on collision with a truck," he said in a press briefing.

Neighbours, friends ask to bury siblings

In another development, neighbours and friends of the family have appealed to the three sons-in-law to allow them to be buried together in one place.

This, they said, would enable their father to participate in the funeral of all his children.

Kassim Salim Mhija, a friend of Msuya, described the accident as a heavy blow to his long-time friend.

"His eyes were on those children, and he depended on them. He received much support from his children, and losing them is a significant blow for him and all of us; it has deeply saddened us," Mhija told Mwananchi Digital.

3 children die in road accident

In a separate incident, TUKO.co.ke reported a family in Juja, Kiambu county, was devastated by the news of their children's deaths.

Two brothers and a sister died after a truck lost control and veered off the road, crashing into them.

The trio had parked their motorcycles by the road; two died on the spot, with the other succumbing to injuries upon arrival at the Thika Level Five Hospital.
