Actresses Jacqueline Nyaminde, aka Wilbroda, and Jacky Vike, popularly known as Awinja, have opened up about their friendship and losing Papa Shirandula.

Wilbroda, Awinja remember Papa Shirandula

The two met on Papa Shirandula's dramedy TV series over 10 years ago, and at first, Wilbroda always revealed she disliked the funny content creator, but with time, they became friends.

Speaking in an interview with Eve Mungai, the two best friends narrated how Charles Bukeko, aka Papa Shirandula's death, affected them.

"It is worse because I live in the same place with his family. He is always in my face. When I see his kids and wife, I remember him..." she said.

The mother f one said she was grateful the late veteran actor held their hands and every person he nurtured re doing really well.

"He left a legacy, and it is the same thing I pray that when I exit this world, I still have a legacy too, so that my name lives on just like Papa's.

Paying tribute to her on-screen uncle, Awinja said:

"He believed in people and made our dreams come true. He nurtured me," she said.

Wilbroda recalled how the actor was buried hurriedly and not given a better send-off.

Awinja added that they didn't get time to mourn Papa Shirandula.

"In our own little spaces, we all mourned differently. Tulikuwa tunapigiana simu tunaanza kulia. Tunakutana tunaanza kulia (We used to call each other cry and also whenever we met). It was crazy," Wilbroda said.

Wilbroda gets emotional remembering Papa Shirandula

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that Wilbroda paid a glowing tribute to her on-screen hubby Papa Shirandula.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, at Pride Inn Azure Hotel, during Papa Shirandula's first anniversary, Wilbroda said:

"He was an amazing actor and a perfectionist on set."

She further revealed that Papa died after shooting five episodes of his new show dubbed Mzee ni Wewe, which was yet to air soon.

"Papa used to push us to be great. Things have been slow since he passed away, and we're taking it a step at a time," she explained.

Asked if his character will be replaced by someone else for the show to continue, Wilbroda, who couldn't hide her emotions, said:

"Papa is irreplaceable. For now, the scripts we're working on are around the other characters that we have, but he is quite present even in the conversations."
