Bungoma - President William Ruto has lauded the Bungoma County Assembly for setting up a library at the newly launched office block.

What did Ruto promise Bungoma MCAs?

Speaking at the official opening of the office block on Sunday, August 27, the president encouraged the Members of the County Assembly (MCA) to use the library by reading more books.

"I am thrilled that you have a library so that you can read and have an informed debate. Please make use of the library. We want to hear leaders from Bungoma quoting Aristol, and you can learn something from Speaker Wetang'ula," Ruto said.

The head of state told MCAs that instead of throwing chairs at each other in the assembly, they should read books to be informed and become better debaters.

"You should not just go to the assembly and say nothing. I encourage you to read so that you have a debate that enriches the welfare of humanity and the people of Bungoma. Don't just go there to insult each other and throw chairs," he advised.

President Ruto directed ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo to help equip and establish a digital library in all county assemblies.

Uasin Gishu MCA goes viral over his level of education

In other news, a Member of the County Assembly from Uasin Gishu became a sensation on social media after his video boasting how he won an election without having an education.

The MCA, identified as David Kimeli, alias Kokwas, was addressing the press when he boasted that though he did not go to school, he won an MCA seat in the August 2022 election.

In the hilarious clip that is already making rounds on social media, Kokwas, who was barely coherent as he spoke English, said he was back in high school, but he was never bothered even if he scored E, the lowest grade a KCSE candidate can get..

"Now, I am going to do Form Four! I don't even want to get more! I want to have E! Even a certificate. I am here to say don't try to have jealousy of anyone. Don't try to bring many things. Even as I talk in English now, I have never gone to any class (SIC)!" he said as journalists struggled to hold their laughter as the MCA massacred the Queen's language during the press briefing.
