Narok - Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said President William Ruto will reopen the purchase of proverbial government shares in 2026.
The deputy president said this just months after he came under fire for likening government appointments to shareholding in a company.
Speaking on Thursday, August 25, during the Maa cultural festival, Rigathi told the Maa community to be ready to get their share of government when chances come up in 2026.
"You know the president loves this community. I also love the Maa as I have roots in this community. You have been given lots of appointments, even more than your appointments. We will reopen these shares in 2026. You will have the opportunity to have enough shares in William Ruto's government," he said.

To prove the president's support towards the community, Rigathi revealed Ruto has a bodyguard from the Maa.
"A bodyguard is a very important person. He is the person that the president supports and trusts and he is your son," the deputy president said.
Rigathi's shareholding remarks
A few months ago, Rigathi left many with a bad taste in their mouths after stating that appointments to the government would be made according to the 2022 voting pattern.
The DP said those who voted for Ruto's government would be given priority in state jobs.
“This government is a company that has shares. Some owners have the majority of shares, there are those with just a few, while others do not have any. You invested in this government. You tilled, sowed, put manure; now it is time to reap,” he said.
Rigathi attends Maa cultural festival
On Thursday, August 24, the DP appreciated the Maasai culture as the Nilotic community marked its three-day ethnic festival at the Maasai Mara's Sekenani Gate.
Rigathi stepped out in the community's popular attire to join in President William Ruto's challenge that excited netizens.
The deputy president took pride in the community's distinct traditions as he joined the natives in marking the fest.
