The second in command pointed out that opposition leaders will only get their security back provided there are no demonstrations in the country.

" Since I have not seen a commitment that you denounce violence and give Kenyans an undertaking that you will not go back to the streets, those policemen will be on standby for now.
If in the next two or three months you are of good behaviour, there are no demonstrations, there's no chaos, we shall return the men to you to guard you," said Gachagua.

Remarks by the second-in-command came after Migori governor Ochilo Ayacko lamented the decision by the government to take away his security detail.

Uhuru forced to share security with Mama Ngina

Meanwhile, former president Uhuru Kenyatta criticised the move by the government to withdraw security detail attached to his mother and former first lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Speaking to news editors on Monday, July 24, Uhuru said the move saw him being forced to share armed security with his mother.

The former president stated that the security Mama Ngina was enjoying was not because of him but because of her position as a former first lady.

Uhuru disclosed that the family had been forced to hire private guards to secure their premises after the government withdrew the security Mama Ngina had enjoyed for 50 years.

"The benefits my mum enjoys are not because of me but because she is a former First Lady. We have to hire private security guards," said Uhuru.
