Julius and Brian's bodies were positively identified by their families on December 26.
The quarter was onboard a Suzuki Swift vehicle when the killer gang rained bullets on it.
According to Brian's mother, her son had on Friday, December 22, left their home in Gitaru for his second-hand clothes business in Nairobi.
He was to return with shopping for his infant daughter's birthday on Christmas Day.
"We were with him the whole day. He even made us lunch before leaving. He was to organise his child's birthday on December 25," Brian's mother Margaret Mwangi said.
She was puzzled by the number of gunshot wounds her son and cousin sustained in the attack, dismissing the claims that the duo were armed with daggers.
The family had visited the City Mortuary, where the bodies lie, and identified them.
"They have been shot more than 40 rounds. They cannot be easily identified. We knew Brian through his signature gold tooth," added Margaret.
On her part, Julius's mother, Jane Muthoni, had waited for him at home on the fateful night.
"I was with him and sent him home with some clothes. I even gave him fare," she said.
Julius was a dealer of scrap metal.
Status of investigations
Meanwhile, police are still undertaking investigations into the murders.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said investigators had not yet established the motive or those behind it.
A Buruburu local said they heard gunshots, and when they checked, they found the young men dead.
“We were called by neighbours who heard the gunshots and mistook it to be fireworks, only to find the bodies there,” Bungei said.
He disclosed that three bodies were found outside the car they had and one inside.
The four were driving a Suzuki Swift that was sprayed with several bullets, immobilising the men.
The incident happened 1 km away from Buruburu Police Station. Police claimed they recovered two daggers from one of the deceased.
