Bungoma Queens FC has been thrown into mourning after losing one of their top players, Centrine Waswa.
The cause of her untimely demise is yet to be disclosed.
"We regret to announce the passing of our player, Centrine Waswa. As the Bungoma Queen's family, we stand with the family during this trying moment. May her soul rest in peace," said Bungoma Queens FC.

Kenyans mourn
The Kenya Footballers Welfare Association conveyed their deepest condolences to the family and club following the death of the player.
"We are deeply saddened following the untimely death of our member and Bungoma Queens FC playmaker, Centrine Waswa. Our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the Kenyan football fraternity," read their statement.
The Football Kenya Federation said:
"Football Kenya Federation (FKF) extends its deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and teammates of Centrine Waswa.".
"To honour Centrine's memory, a minute of silence will be observed before all FKF WPL matches scheduled for this weekend. May her soul rest in peace," added the note.
As a result, the team requested the postponement of their match with Ulinzi at the Gems Cambridge Grounds, which was scheduled for Saturday, January 6.
Gor Mahia player collapses, dies on spot
In August 2023, former Gor Mahia player Rafael Asudi collapsed and died during a match at Thika Municipal Stadium in Kiambu county.
Asudi died while featuring a friendly match between Seniors FC and Thika Vitambi.
"The left-foot player collapsed moments ago at Thika Municipal Stadium while featuring in a friendly match for Seniors FC against Thika Vitambi," football commentator Fred Arocho posted on social media.
