The lollipop hawker's stock of sweets was scrambled on by rowdy youths at the event, attracting ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna's attention.

Visibly shy, the young man stepped on the stage and moved to Sifuna's side, where he started stuttering as he listed the items he had lost.
The outspoken lawmaker stopped him in his tracks and asked him to give a general amount of money he thought his stock was.
He told the crowd his goods were worth KSh 5,000, prompting the Nairobi senator to start counting KSh 1000 notes.
Sifuna gave him KSh 4000 before the Nairobi county Majority Leader topped up with another KSh 5000.
The hawker revealed to the crowd that he had been a member of the Orange party since 2017 when he was registered as a voter.
How did the hawker's life change
Sifuna asked the young trader to greet ODM party leader Raila Odinga, who also topped up on the KSh 10,000 he had been given.
Raila's action triggered a response from leaders at the event who kept giving the young man wads of cash as his pocket kept building.
Westlands MP kept the money flowing as he added the young man KSh 10,000 before Sifuna disclosed Raila's security would guard him to stop anybody planning to take the cash from him.
"I am giving him Baba's security. Try to confront him again, and that Israeli commando will deal with you," Sifuna said.
