Homa Bay - One person has died and eight others were injured in a road accident involving a lorry near Kendu Bay Town in Homa Bay County.
What Rachuonyo police boss said about the accident
Rachuonyo North Sub County police commander Lydia Parteiyie said the Thursday, December 21 accident happened after the lorry that was overspeeding lost control and veered off the road.

Parteiyie said the 23-year-old man died while being rushed to the hospital following the early morning accident, Citizen Digital reported.
Eight occupants of the truck were injured and were rushed to Kendu sub-county hospital for treatment.
“Those who were injured were rushed to the Kendu Sub-county hospital, but they may be transferred to a Kisumu hospital,” Parteiyie said.
The lorry, which was travelling from Homa Bay town towards Katito in Kisumu County, was transporting catering equipment.
The police boss urged motorists to be careful on the road during the festive season to prevent accidents.
What caused the Nakuru accident
In other sad news, four people were killed following a horrible accident involving a bus and a matatu along the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway.
On the morning of Monday, December 18, a Nakuru-bound matatu belonging to Msamaria Shuttle Ltd. collided head-on with a 60-seater bus at the Hill Tea area.
"Four people lost their lives on December 18, 2023 at around 0500hrs, through a tragic road accident involving a Nakuru-bound matatu belonging to Msamaria Shuttle Ltd after the said motor vehicle lost control, colliding head-on with an oncoming 60-seater bus at Hill Tea Area along Eldoret- Nakuru Road," National Police Service said in a statement.
