The Kenya National Education Council has confirmed that all the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examiners have been paid.
Speaking at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret during the release of 2023 KCSE examination results on Monday, January 8, the Education Principal Secretary, Belio Kipsang, assured the disbursement of the funds.
"I want to assure our examiners that we have released your payments. I know KNEC finalised it this morning. And if it is not in your points of payment, then in the course of the day, I want to assure you that we will have paid all our examiners," said Belio.

The Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, added:
"Unlike before, when examiners and invigilators had to wait for a year, today we are completing everything. There will be nothing pending."
Schools' capitations released
The PS also said that schools would be able to receive their capitations within the week to facilitate the running of term-one activity beginning January 8, 2024.
"I would also like to thank all our examiners for their good work. I want to assure all our schools, principals, and headteachers that yes, we have released the capitation. The resources you were required to receive have been released.
If it is not in your account, it is a process. It could be in your school accounts and would be in your accounts either today or tomorrow, for the slowest banks, maybe on Wednesday. But I want to assure you that we have made the payments," he said.
Belio was delighted by KNEC's ability to pay all professional contractors, ensuring smooth national examination outcomes.
Why did KCSE examiners receive payment on time?
In November 2023, during the release of KCPE examination results, Belio promised to ensure that the examiners would get their payments in time, just as their counterparts at the primary level.
The teachers who marked the exams were paid before the release of the results.
"I want to confirm that we have paid all our examiners who marked the KCPE exams. We also want to assure our colleagues in the KCSE that we shall ensure they are paid within the time that is required of us to pay," he informed.
