A woman with a baby on her back, tightly clutching a gas cylinder, is the current talk of the town in Kiambu county after she was caught red-handed stealing the important kitchen equipment.

Kiambu residents feel sorry for the woman

In a video shared on Twitter, the irate Kiambu residents kept questioning the woman and finally, she admitted that she wanted to use the cylinder to cook for her hungry child.

At that point, some people seemed to soften towards her and even asked about the well-being of her baby.

"The baby has not eaten; we are only sympathising with you because of the baby," said a member of the public amid calls to have her taken to authorities on a motorcycle.
"Feel sorry for her, but would the outcome have been the same if it was a man doing it for his child hungry at home?" posed tweep Haaland Sholla who shared the video.

In another story, Joy Karwithia Kaaria was charged with stealing a Range Rover Evoque from her employer, Revere Technologies Limited.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphine Alego at Milimani Law Courts, Kaaria denied the theft, alleged to have occurred on Saturday, September 30.

Nation reported that Kaaria's lawyer argued for lenient bail conditions, citing her young child left alone and traumatised after the arrest.
