Kiambu - A young lady has opened up about the challenging and traumatic moment she faced in Saudi Arabia.

Susan Njoki recalled the torture she faced at the hands of her Saudi employer after trying to escape.

Njoki stated she had asked for her salary, but it was taking too long, and she decided to run away as she was also mistreated.

Wearing extra clothes in uniform

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, she recounted being told to take out the garbage by her employer one night.

"I planned to escape, so I wore extra clothes and my uniform. But she discovered it as she had put a hidden camera in my bedroom. When I took the garbage, she ordered me to return it. She attacked me and put me in the freezer and switched it on," Njoki claimed.

The former househelp claimed the freezer was massive as the family would put kilograms of meat in there.

Working without salary

She remained in the freezer for a while, left unattended by the boss who had put her inside.

"I was not given food or water for the period I was in the freezer. I pleaded with her to take me back that I would even work without the money because staying in the freezer was uncomfortable," the Kiambu woman said.

Njoki said even her employer's kids pleaded with their mother to let off Njoki, but she would not listen.

Njoki had to act as though she was mentally unstable to be released by her employer.

Drinking toilet water in Saudi to survive

Earlier this year, a single mum recalled the mistreatment from her Saudi boss, saying he impregnated her.

Selestine Musavakwa was treated well in her first 90 days at her new home in Saudi Arabia, where she worked as a househelp.

After her probation, her boss suddenly changed, mistreating and being abusive towards her, making inhumane demands.

The single mum of two from Nairobi said at one point, she would drink toilet water, which, in the long run, affected her liver.
