"I believe there is absolutely no sufficient ground that would cause my resignation because I am performing exemplary well as Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Arts, and Youths," Ababu said.
CS Namwamba informed the lawmakers that he had achieved a lot in his docket, such as facilitating lifting the ban against the Football Kenya Federation.
His response came after Kajiado Central legislator Elijah Kanchory Memusi asked the lawmakers to demand the resignation of the embattled CS for allegedly painting the county negatively.
"In light of all the facts that have been stated and in light of article 73 of the Constitution, will this House be in order to demand that the CS Hon. Ababu resigns. Because he has painted this country in a very bad manner, will we be in order to demand that he resigns?" Memusi said.
Senator Charargei claims CS Namwamba neglecting athletes
Meanwhile, Nandi senator Samson Cherargei said Sports CS needs to be held responsible for allegedly mismanaging the sports docket.
Cherargei said the flamboyant Sports CS needs to be summoned by the National Assembly to explain claims that the ministry was mishandling athletes.
The outspoken senator alleged that senior Sports ministry officials had travelled with "girlfriends" to the ongoing World Championship in Budapest at the expense of the nation's top sports representatives.
"Tonight I echo the sentiments of Kimani Ichung'wa, Majority Leader National assembly that CS Ababu continues to mismanage into oblivion our beloved sports. How can ministry officials fly first class with their girlfriends to the Olympics Budapest, Hungary at the expense of our athletes?" Cherargei posed.
Cherargei further alleged that top female athletes were being exploited sexually and economically.
