Tahidi High comedy show has stood the test of time since 2006 when it went live.

The local series portrays the life of high school students and the challenges they face in their education life.

For over a decade, the show gained prominence on Citizen TV, with its actors and actresses keeping Kenyans glued to their screens.

In 2019, Royal Media Services changed its programming shifting Tahidi High to 6:30pm every Tuesday from 7:30pm.

List of Tahidi High teachers, their hustles

Mr Kilunda

Ted Kitana acted as Mr Kilunda on Tahidi High. He depicted a strict teacher who always kept students on their toes.

Kitana relocated to his rural home in Machakos county during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking to Obayi, the talented star said he was pleased by the village's convenient and cheap life.

“I would ask someone for their services, and they sometimes asked me just to pay KSh 50,” he quipped.

He invested in a barbershop and salon while he was in his motherland. And the best part was people often flocked to his joint to see him so business was good.

In his Instagram, he describes himself as a film producer and motivational speaker.

Angel Waruinge (Miss Morgan)

Miss Morgan charmed the audience during her acting days as the deputy principal, Tahidi High.

With fame, she encountered several challenges that made her seek counselling.

She has since embarked on school tours mentoring students across the country.

Her Instagram profile shows she is a business executive at Nairobi Performing Arts Studio. She also worked as a brand ambassador for Naivas Supermarket and Faulu Bank.

3. Geoffrey Githae Njogu (Teacher Karimi)

Geoffrey Githae Njogu, popularly known by his stage name Teacher Karimi was a tough disciplinarian who did not entertain jokes.

Besides acting, the trained counsellor is a motivational speaker.

His eloquence in Swahili and English has earned him money as he moves from school to school, mentoring students.

4. Mr Tembo

Joseph Omari, known by his Tahidi High stage name of Mr Tembo, was a favourite TV star due to his strictness.

Omari revealed he invested in his children, so he lives a good life away from begging like other former actors.

"You see, if you went away from the family when you had money they will also do the same when you are down and need their help," he told Hiram Kamuhunjia.

He indicated that, to this day, he continues to receive financial help from the children abroad and in Kenya, which makes him lead a comfortable life.

5. Benard Mwangi (Mr Mweposi)

Mr Mweposi struggled to make ends meet after his Tahidi High contract ended. He relocated to Karatina, Nyeri to try his hands in farming.

He sought financial assistance to expand his chilli farm to enable him to provide for his family. He disclosed he was battling diabetes.

"I relocated to Nyeri from Machakos. I have been suffering from diabetes and it took a toll on me. And the issue with depression, but I have been battling depression positively because I have managed to accept a lot of things," he said.

Phil Karanja's rise to millionaire

Kenyan film producer Philip Karanja is popularly referred to as Melvin due to his role in the local series Tahidi High aired on Citizen TV.

Karanja transitioned from acting to producing local shows such as Sue na Johnie, The Real Househelps of Kawangware, Click Click Bang and A Grand Little Lie.

He is the co-founder of Phil-It Productions, which he runs alongside his buddy Abel Mutua, with whom they acted together in Tahidi High.
