Away from managing Royal Media Services (RMS), owned by Mt Kenya tycoon SK Macharia, Wachira Waruru has invested in the hospitality sector.

What does Wachira Waruru own?

The RMS managing director is the chairman of Chaka Ranch, located in Nyeri county, as reported by Who Owns Kenya.

According to its website, the ranch is set on an expansive space between the breathtaking views of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountain Range.

The facility provides a private haven for outdoor lovers or those wishing to spend their time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Besides hosting team building, weddings and birthday events, the ranch offers other services, including quad bikes, a water park, a go-kart and an action arena.

Before joining RMS, Waruru worked for other media houses, including KBC and Standard Media Group.

What does SK Macharia own?

Waruru's boss SK Macharia's wealth is estimated at over KSh 40 billion.

Besides RMS, he has interests in Directline Insurance, Serenity Media Productions Ltd, Big Five Conservancy, Bushfire Media Distributors, Toi Redevelopment and Harbour Capital Ltd.

Macharia founded Citizen TV in 1990 as a private station. The mother company has since expanded to three TV stations (Citizen, Inooro and Ramogi) and over 10 radio stations.

The veteran Citizen TV and radio presenter owns multi-million assets that befit his status as one of the highest-paid journalists in Kenya.

The 57-year-old owns two posh four-bedroomed houses in Kitisuru, one of the most expensive estates in the Nairobi Metropolitan area.

Koinange holds a bachelor of arts degree from New York University and worked at ABC News from 1991 to 1992.

In 1994 he worked as a producer for NBC News and before joining CNN, he worked for Reuters. Koinange lives a flashy lifestyle, given his huge salary that surpasses that of the president and other senior government officials.
