Narok - A bus ferrying passengers to Migori county has been burned to ashes.

The ENA Coach bus burst into flames at the Nairagie Enkare area along the Narok-Mai Mahiu highway in Narok county.

In a statement, the bus management disclosed that 48 passengers were aboard the bus during the Wednesday, August 30 incident.

They said one of the bus’s front wheels reportedly got a puncture while ascending a hill, after which the driver tried to pull it over along the highway to change the tyre.

While changing the tyre, the bus caught fire and efforts to reach the Narok County firefighting department bore no fruit.

"At approximately 2am this morning, while en route from Nairobi to Migori with 48 passengers on board our bus experienced a front tire burst while ascending the hill after Suswa. Our experienced driver promptly stopped the bus to assess the situation, only to discover that the bus had caught fire," ENA Coach management said.

What ENA Coach management said on bus fire

The management said all passengers were safely evacuated from the bus before it was reduced to ashes.

"Upon discovering the fire, our vigilant crew members acted quickly and efficiently, ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers from the burning bus. We are relieved to inform you that no casualties or injuries were reported during this incident," they added.

After evacuation, the passengers were transferred to a rescue bus and continued their journey to Migori, where they reached safely.

"In order to minimize any inconvenience caused to our passengers, we immediately dispatched a rescue bus to the scene. The passengers were transferred to the rescue bus and their journey to Migori was resumed without further delays," ENA Coach stated.

Man dies in accident along Mombasa Road

In other news, a Nairobi father died in a horrible road accident along Mombasa Road while taking his children to school.

The man was taking his two kids to school on a boda boda when it rammed into a bus, leading to his instantaneous death.

A report by Citizen TV indicated the accident occurred as they crossed the road, and the two children sustained serious injuries.

The man's remains were moved to the Kambu Hospital mortuary while his children were rushed to Makindu Sub-county Hospital.
