Toco, the Japanese man who went viral after posting a video of himself wearing a dog costume, has opened up about the support he received from his family.

In a publication by the New York Post, the Japanese man denied that the main idea behind his transformation was that he wanted to live like a dog.

"My desire to be an animal is like a desire to transform, a desire to be something that I am not,” he said.

What did Toco's family say about dog transformation?

Toco also narrated that he only wears the costume maybe once or twice a week at home compared to the information that was shared about him.

He explained that his family accepted his transformation and shut down claims that they put him in a doghouse because of his strange hobby.

“The family was surprised, but received it favorably. I am very happy that they accepted it," he added.

TUKO.co.ke had reported that Toco stepped out frolicking on all fours in his dog costume while in his backyard and displaying impressive tricks in exchange for treats.

The anticipation grew as Toco ventured out in public for the first time, and two surreal videos captured this remarkable event.

With enthusiasm and dedication, he was taken for a walk on a leash, sniffing and interacting with other dogs at a nearby park.

Zoo keepers deny bears are humans

Elsewhere, Hangzhou Zoo in China recently denied rumours of humans dressed as bears after a video of a sun bear standing on its hind legs went viral.

According to the Guardian, the zookeepers clarified that the animal is a real Malaysian sun bear, the smallest bear species globally, not a human in costume.

Other Chinese zoos have faced similar accusations, such as passing off dogs as wolves and donkeys as zebras.
