Nairobi - Governor Johnson Sakaja has shown compassion after offering a job to a mother of five and paying school fees for her children.

Sakaja spoke during the Dishi na County event launch at the Baba Dogo Primary School in the Ruaraka constituency.

His speech was interrupted when the woman, only identified as Millicent, made her way to the podium with her five children, one seated in a wheelchair.

Some money to live by

The woman's face lit up when Sakaja reached into his pocket to get some money and handed it to her.

"These are my children. We will make sure they go to school. She says she wants these children to go to school, and she doesn't have a job. Now, we must help them. These children will be admitted to this school."
"I will provide everything they need, and we will provide a job for the mother in the Dishi na County kitchen, but before that, take this money and get something to eat with the kids. We must love each other and be mindful of each other," Sakaja said.

A sustainability plan

In a video shared on his Facebook account, the county boss said no child was better than the other and argued that all of them must access education and other basic needs.

"The kids you have seen here deserve to live like my kids. There is no child that is more important than the other one. In Nairobi, we say, a first-class county cannot have lower-class residents," he explained.

He said he plans to address the county's challenges within five years.

Johnson Sakaja reacts to Lady's claims on feeding program

In July, the county boss found himself at the centre of a social media storm following claims made by a lady regarding his school's feeding program.

Sakaja took to Twitter to address the allegations, vehemently denying any falsehood in his initiative.

According to the lady's Twitter post, Sakaja's programme is not as benevolent as it seems, as parents must pay KSh 5 per day for their children's meals.
