- He was hit by an unlicensed Prado while directing traffic at the busy junction; he died on the spot after sustaining serious injuries
- The driver of the Prado was arrested and is currently in custody at Kiambu police station, awaiting arraignment

A Kiambu traffic police officer has died on the spot after being hit by a car while manning traffic along the Kiambu Road-Northern by-pass junction.
Constable Kelvin Korir was directing traffic at the junction when a Prado, which the police described as unlicensed, hit the law enforcer.
A police report indicated that 33-year-old Eric Otieno Ongoya, who was driving from Nairobi to Kiambu, hit the officer and sandwiched him between the prado and another one.
Korir sustained injuries on the head and chest, dying on the spot.

"The body was taken to Kenyatta Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and the motor vehicles were taken to Kiambu police station pending inspection. Eric Otieno Ongoya is held in custody at Kiambu police station awaiting arraignment before the court," the police report indicated.
Colleagues mourn constable Korir
His colleagues have since taken to social media to mourn him, saying his death is unfortunate. Here are some of the condolence messages posted:
John Maina Mwaniki said
"This gentleman was so good. A respectable person, a friend to all. A cool man reasonable also hardworking person I have lost a friend," he said.
"Kelvin left home in the morning to go to work and promised his wife and kids he will go back home. Seeing the body of a colleague on the highway has left me shaken," police officer Sammy Ondimu said.
Nairobi traffic officer dies
Two weeks ago, a Nairobi traffic officer was killed in a horrific accident after a lorry rammed into a car he was inspecting along Outering Road.
The traffic officer is said to have been inspecting a vehicle's stickers when a lorry rammed into it, leading him to sustain serious injuries.
Buru Buru sub-county police commander Francis Kamau said the police officer succumbed to his injuries while he was on his way to the hospital.
