Mercy Tarus was thrust into the limelight after lecturing the Uasin Gishu county leadership over the alleged misappropriation of funds.

The young woman called out the politicians for smiling innocently, yet they lied to her parents.

"You are very mean with the truth, you keep lying, you smile at us, with a very smooth tongue and a very soft face that looks very innocent.

But you keep lying and lying," she lamented as the other aggrieved students cheered.

2. Mercy Tarus criticises leaders for late arrival

Mercy further questioned why the leaders arrived for the meeting late despite saying it would start at 9am.

Holding her passport, the young lady told the leaders they might dismiss her sentiment since she was young.

She stated that her grandfather had not eaten since morning, as they had arrived at the venue very early for the meeting, pointing out that some of the elderly at the meeting were ailing due to the stress induced by the issue.

3. Mercy Tarus, the hawker

The young woman said that she had schooled with the children of some of the leaders, but most of them had moved abroad.

She was stuck in Kenya doing menial jobs to make ends meet.

According to Mercy, she works as a salonist and also hawks porridge.

Her passionate speech caught the attention of Senator Ledama Olekina, and he offered her a job.

"Mercy Tarus, I would like you to work for me. Speak your heart.

The future belongs to candid youth! Let’s talk," he wrote.

5. Mercy Tarus criticised by Alinur Mohamed

However, it was not all praise, as youthful politician Alinur Mohamed criticised Mercy.

“I am disappointed with Mercy Tarus. She disrespected leaders from Uasin Gishu. She should apologise,” he said.

6. Mercy Tarus promotes business

On Thursday, August 10, Mercy promoted her porridge business.

"There will be a tournament at Marura.

Come enjoy football and support me by getting a cup of uji,” she wrote.

7. Mercy Tarus, the poet

In 2020, the beauty announced that she would publish a poetry book.

“I have been looking forward to this day for the longest time.

Finally, things fell into place,” she wrote.
