Nairobi - A depressed elderly man living in Kibra slums has recalled being left by his wife in what seemed like a well-planned scheme.
Joshua Mungai noted it had been over a decade since his lover ran away from him without a trace.
They had been living in a camp following 2007 post-election violence clashes that saw them seeking refuge far from the comfort of their homes.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Mungai said he had asked his spouse to take the kids home after the tension had cooled off.

"My wife and I had to live at the showground for nearly two months after we were displaced. Later on, I asked her to take the kids home. So that they can go back to school at least since we didn't have a plan just yet, she took the kids home," the 63-year-old explained.
Anne Nduta, a caring neighbour, shared Mungai was candidly sent to the shop by his wife to get a few things.

Mungai's wife lied to Nduta that they had found a new house and were moving out, so she helped her pack the household items.
"I did not know all was a lie," Nduta, a community health worker taking care of Mungai, said.
When Mungai, who lives in Kibera Katwekera, returned, he found the house had been swept clean, and only his clothes were left behind.
"She went for good. She swept the house clean and left with everything. The house was empty. Even the wardrobes she left were broken into pieces, and I have never repaired them," he faintly added.
Road accident ruins marriage of six years
Mungai was not the only one who had been through that painful road as another Nairobi man said his wife abandoned him and swept the house clean two months after he lost his job.
Cosmas Otwori Julius woke up in a hospital following a terrifying accident that left him in great pain all over his body.
While in the hospital, he lost his job as the company he worked for said they no longer needed his services.
Two months later, his wife of six years abandoned him with an empty house, taking their two children with her.
