Karma seems to have acted too swiftly for a man suspected to have been part of a gang that stole a pastor's car as he has died shortly after the alleged robbery.

The suspect, named Max, died on the spot while his accomplice, 26-year-old Gift Mulenga, has been hospitalised after the vehicle they stole from Pastor Adams Mwale overturned.

Duo attacked pastor with firearm

Mwebantu reports that the duo, armed with a pistol, attacked the clergyman as he was driving home after praying for someone near Kapata Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church.

According to police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, the vehicle in question is a white Mazda valued at K45,000 (KSh 330,000).

"Brief facts are that the victim who is a pastor went to pray for someone near Kapata SDA church then in the process of parking his vehicle along the road he was attacked," he said.

The two criminals left the victim for dead before speeding off with his car, only to lose control shortly after and overturn at Fisheries Chipata.

Max was driving

Max, who was driving the stolen vehicle, died on the spot whilst his colleague sustained fractured legs, a cut on the left heel, bruises on the forehead.

Hamoonga added that police officers recovered a black Glock pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition believed to have been the weapon the criminals used in the crime.

"The vehicle was extensively damaged and the deceased's body is lying in Chipata Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial," he continued.

As of the time of filing this report, the injured accomplice was fighting for his life at Chipata Central Hospital under police guard.

Another driver cheated death

Elsewhere, an emerging video which captured a man's attempt to escape a wrecked car after a horrific accident evokes strong reactions on social media.

The video revealed a badly damaged vehicle and injured survivor after a matatu collision near Pacis Centre on Waiyaki Way.

In the footage, the survivor was shown grappling with his overturned car emitting smoke, with a shattered windshield and significant damage to the bonnet.
