Kitengela - Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga has said demonstrations might resume if talks fail.

Raila said he had given time for the teams to hold talks in Bomas of Kenya, with his side being led by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

"Our team will hold dialogue in Bomas, but if they fail, we will blow the whistle. I will ask you to come out of the streets. We have given some time to Kalonzo and Ichung'wah to negotiate," Raila said.

Speaking in Kitengela after a joint service in the region, the Azimio la Umoja leader asked Kenyans to be hopeful that the talks will bear fruits.

However, he expressed confidence in the impact of the anti-government demos, saying they would lower the cost of living.

"I want to ask Kenyans to be hopeful; we have asked for the dialogue, and they accepted. Demos will lower the cost of living," he told a mammoth crowd in Kitengela town.

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua burst into a song encouraging residents to be ready for another round of protests to compel President William Ruto to address several issues they have raised.

Karua asked Ruto's administration to stop attacking the people and go for them instead.

Kenya Kwanza leaders: Sue Raila Odinga over destruction

In July 2023, a section of Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders vowed to initiate legal action against Raila Odinga over the destruction of property and loss of lives.

The leaders argued that the Azimio protests aimed to sabotage the economy, threatening to pursue a legal route to ensure that those organising protests were held liable for any destruction of property.

According to a report filed by NTV, the Kenya Kwanza allied leaders trained their guns on the Opposition, calling them economic saboteurs.

"We are not going to allow any political thuggery. We are not going to allow any demonstrations that are especially violent. We are no longer going to allow blackmail. The Kenyan people spoke, and there was no other speaking that they were going to do," Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro said.
