Kakamega - Lurambi Member of Parliament Titus Khamala expressed fury after finding clay at a school's storey building site.

The lawmaker visited St Basil Lurambi Primary School early in the morning to assess an ongoing construction project when he met the shock of his life.

The project is being funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).

"Sijapendezwa na mambo ya hapa kwa sababu wengine wako kwa ground wanafanya kazi lakini hapa Lurambi Primary School mradi ambao umetusumbua sana hata kwa proposal yetu na hata kutuchelewesha is one of this ones. (I am not happy with whatever I have found here. Some are working while here nothing is going on despite the struggle we have had to endure with this project)," he said.

The cost of the project

He regretted that despite allocating over KSh 5 million for the project, there was nothing to write home about.

"Chenye nimekutana nacho ni matope. Watu wanasema bishop anajenga majumba mbaya, am not a mason. Kazi yangu is to deliver money. (People claim that I am not constructing good buildings but what they don't know is that I am not a mason. My job is to deliver the funds)," he added.

In a now-viral video, the MP put the school management on notice, saying that engineers from the Public Works department will visit the school for an assessment of the project.

"I am speaking with authority as the elected MP who oversees the work because this is a very big joke. With the millions we have allocated and all you can do is deliver clay then buildings end up with cracks then collapse. I will not happen, Everyone should carry their cross," he added.

He termed as a joker the person who delivered the sand and the project contractor.

"Go to the neighboring schools where there are similar ongoing projects, the contractors are on-site working but here is a joke. I am going to engage the local community because this is their school so that they can know what is happening here," Khamala added.

Titus Khamala cries out to William Ruto

In a related story, TUKO.co.ke previously reported that Khamala lamented that President William Ruto was neither giving handouts anymore nor picking calls like he used to during the campaign period.

The MP who was dismissing claims that he was paid to avoid being present during the Second Reading of the Finance Bill 2023 said that could not be true as Ruto was longer dishing out monies like he used to.

Speaking in Kakamega on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at a church fundraiser that the president also attended, Khamala said contacting the president had become harder as he was no longer picking up calls.
