William Ruto excites Mombasa traders

The excited traders told him that they sell cold soda and water.

"Wapi chairman wenu? Ndio hii hapa mia moja ugawiye hawa watu. (Where is your chairman? Here is KSh 100,000 share it with these people,)" the president said amid cheers from the crowd.

The president will focus on inaugurating, commissioning, and inspecting government projects that benefit ordinary Kenyans, aligning with the bottom-up economic agenda.

Blue Economy and Fisheries sector

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said that the president is emphasising on projects in the Blue Economy and Fisheries sector in Mukowe, Ngao, Ukunda, and Mombasa with grants worth over KSh 552 million to be issued to common interest groups.

Ruto is also expected to commission a fish landing site in Kilifi county to boost the Blue Economy and Fisheries Value Chain.

Kenya's social protection program

He will later preside over the rededication ceremony of KNS Shupavu, the first warship refitted locally, affirming Kenya Shipyards Limited's vision in the shipbuilding industry in Mombasa.

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Hussein said that KSh 2.3 billion would be disbursed to all cash transfer beneficiaries under the social protection program.

The monies are for July 2023 and are to be channelled to all the beneficiaries across the country.

“President Ruto promised that there’s no way his government can pay civil servants before paying stipends for the vulnerable,“ Hussein said in a statement posted on his official Twitter handle.

Hussein further said that Ruto, who spoke in Lamu, had announced KSh 32 billion shareable revenue for counties for July 2023.
