At first, passengers thought the conductor was just pulling their legs when he communicated in English with the touts on the stage, indicating that he needed six more passengers to leave.
However, immediately after the bus was filled to capacity, he greeted all the passengers in English, asked them how their Christmas Day was, and wished them a Merry Christmas.
"Merry Christmas to all of you. I know today is a special day, and I wish you all the best," said the conductor, whose M-Pesa Payment number is registered under Gilbert Lidubwi.

He proceeded to guide the passengers who preferred paying their fare using mobile money on how to do it, all the while speaking in English and in a hilarious manner.
"For those who want to pay using their phones, you can use the number on the screen (the number was inscribed on the front side of the matatu). Please begin paying now so that when I come, I will verify your messages, and then we can quickly go to other businesses because it is Christmas," the conductor continued while smiling as passengers broke into laughter.
As if that were enough, the conductor peeped where the driver was and told him to stop hooting another motorist who had blocked the way.

"Sir, just tell him to allow you space to pass. Tell him to let you pass so we can proceed with our journey," he added, leaving passengers, some quiet in stitches.
Along the way, the conductor maintained his resolution, save for a few bus stops where he called passengers to board in Kiswahili.
He courteously asked the driver to slow down to drop passengers at every stage, wishing those alighting a Merry Christmas and putting more smiles on their faces.
