Nairobi - Governor Johnson Sakaja has listed some of his accomplishments since taking office.
Governor Sakaja claimed that in his first year in office, he has helped the Nairobi County government achieve several successes, including environmental cleanup, health care, road rehabilitation, land tenure improvements, education support, and revenue collection.
Sakaja claims that his team has gathered more than 1 million tonnes of waste from the county on the environmental front.
Addressing challenges of the city
He stated that 3,500 people had joined the Green Army, 85 contractors had been hired to cover all 17 sub-counties and significant dumpsites in Nairobi, and 11 air quality monitors had been installed.

The opening of the Intensive Care Unit at Mama Lucy Hospital and purchasing KSh 244 million worth of medical supplies are listed as Sakaja's significant accomplishments in the health sector, assisted by Nairobi Health CEC Geoffery Mosiria.
He said 925 new street lights had been installed, 9758 street lights had been restored, and 50 kilometres of roads had been repaired.
Sakaja's record on issuing title deeds is impressive. He has issued 5,000 title deeds, including 42 for schools.
Nairobi County has allocated ECDE bursaries for education totalling KSh 100 million.
KSh 10.6 billion in revenue
According to the scorecard, Nairobi County brought in an astounding KSh 10.6 billion in revenue.
However, the county boss's track record was tainted with complaints from residents over issues like sanitation, drainage, security and order in Nairobi town.
What is happening in the sanitation department?
Print journalist Hanifa Farsafi shared pictures of streets in Pipeline showing a road filled with sewer water, complaining that the county government had done nothing to address the drainage menace in the area.
In another tweet, Hanifa said a sewer has been leaking in Korogocho slums for the past 15 years and needed urgent attention.
"This sewer leakage has been at Korogocho slums for over 15 years. If it was some estate they'd," Hanifa said.
Songah Daniels asserted that it is the role of the government to provide proper amenities for the residents because they pay taxes.
"The government's role is to provide social amenities like clean water supply, responsible garbage collection & management, safe sewerage management, recreational facilities, and accessible road networks. They pay tax like the rest of us," Daniels explained.
A section of Nairobians complained that hawkers had invaded their space with their merchandise, unlike during other regimes when City Askaris controlled the population of hawkers inside the CBD.
They proposed that hawkers should be allocated designated areas to sell their products without interfering with operations in town.
New vehicles to improve service delivery
On Tuesday, May 16, the county boss launched 19 brand-new vehicles to drive efficiency and better serve the people of Nairobi.
During the launch, the governor said the vehicles will be deployed to the security and compliance department and inspectorate to replace the battered, dilapidated vehicles on the road.
“These vehicles are not for individual’s luxury and comfort. They are meant to serve the people of Nairobi. One of the things we promised when we came into office is to address the issue of dilapidated vehicles in the county, and we are doing so in phases," Sakaja said on Tuesday, May 16.
Governor Sakaja warned the inspectorate department not to use the new vehicles to harass people but instead use them to offer service to the residents.
