Eldoret - Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga has clapped back at Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii for rubbishing anti-government demos.
Speaking at a previous event, Governor Jonathan Bii famously known as 'Koti Moja' said they would not allow a move to lower the price of maize because residents of Uasin Gishu, a food basket, were busy working on the farm when Azimio la Umoja supporters were busy protesting in the streets.
What are results of demonstrations?
Raila dismissed the comments, saying there was nothing wrong with demos because the outcome of the current constitution was protesting.

"I want to conclude by referring to what Governor Jonathan Bii said, the host governor, that they are expecting a bumper harvest because they did maandamanos in the farms instead of the streets and not carrying Sufurias. I want to tell you that our Katiba is a product of maandamano," Raila explained.
Referring to the much-publicised Finland education saga, the ODM leader opined that if demonstrations can help the parents recover their money, then there was nothing wrong with protests.
Raila Odinga: Demos are a noble course
He explained that the law backs demonstrations and that what is wrong is police using excessive force like live bullets on protesters.
"And I also want to remind him that if maandamano can help the families whose children were cheated and money taken to Finland, then what's wrong with maandamano. What is wrong is police brutality," he said.
Raila was making his remarks at the Devolution Conference as a guest speaker in Uasin Gishu county.
Koti Moja asks Raila Odinga to stop demos
In October 2022, the Uasin Gishu county boss asked the opposition leader to desist from threatening William Ruto's administration.
Addressing Uasin Gishu residents, the first-time governor told Raila Odinga to allow Ruto to peacefully run the government instead of inciting his residents against paying taxes.
Koti Moja told the Azimio chief that Ruto was not interested in getting into a handshake agreement if he intended to start a mass boycott.
