"When my youngest child was six months old, he rejected my left breast. I did not understand why yet it was still producing milk. I indulged my grandmother and told her it was also painful," she said.
Njeri, accompanied by her cousin, went to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) to seek professional medical advice.
Doctor discover tumour
She was told by the doctors she had an infection which also resulted in her left breast getting bigger and bigger.
"It was swelling and very painful. They removed part of the flesh and told me to return after four days. When I returned after the stipulated days, they informed me I had breast cancer," Njeri shared.
In addition, she also had a tumour growing on her head, which worsened her condition.
The woman from Kawangware, Nairobi county said she needed over KSh 100,000 for early treatment.
Staying with neighbour, becoming over-reliant
"My family members abandoned me and even blocked my number. My friends also deserted me when I shared my plight. I am staying with a neighbour, but she is increasingly getting tired and impatient with me," she noted.
The mum of four noted she could not work menial jobs and fend for her family making her overreliant on the neighbour.
The 34-year-old used to sell watermelons and work at the construction site, but her medical condition rid her of the energy to work.
Contributions toward her medical appeal could be sent to her number at 011 0005330.
