Thousands of Kenyan citizens gathered at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) venue in Nairobi to participate in the Worldcoin registration exercise.

However, their hopes were dashed when police officers intervened and turned them away, leading to frustration and disappointment among the crowd.

The Worldcoin registration process involves the unique method of scanning participants' eyeballs, and in return, they are rewarded with 25 WLD tokens, which are currently valued at KSh 7,786.

The project, spearheaded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, aims to be a groundbreaking global blockchain initiative.

Police officials explained that the decision to halt the exercise was prompted by concerns about security risks associated with hosting such a large gathering at the KICC venue.

KICC Worldcoin registration suspended

To ensure the safety of the participants and the smooth continuation of the registration, the police advised the Worldcoin team to consider alternative venues that can accommodate the crowd while minimising security concerns.

Subsequently, the Worldcoin team had no choice but to turn away those who had lined up for the registration.

Citizen TV reports the officers stopped the registration process due to safety concerns and advised the team to look for a bigger, safer location, such as Nyayo or Kasarani Stadiums.

Andrew Kibe cautions Kenyans agaisnt Worldcoin register

In other news, Andrew Kibe warned Kenyans against falling for the new cryptocurrency.

The former radio show host noted that Kenyans should become suspicious when the deal is too sweet.

He noted that the only place people can make money is when they work.

"This is where you will probably get anything. This place is called work," he said.

In a YouTube video, Kibe advised Kenyans against falling for cryptocurrency scams.

"What small brain do you have that you think there is a place you can go and make money off the internet just like that?" he posed.
