Nairobi - Azimio leader Raila Odinga's family held a glamorous event to celebrate his wife Ida Odinga's 73rd birthday.
One of the most notable families in Kenya, the Odingas, have graced Kenyan politics from pre-independence with their patriarch, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the founding vice president.
Raila and Ida also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone for any couple but especially for them, given the hurdles they've faced.
From Ida being sacked as a teacher due to his association with the Odingas to Raila being detained and not having enough time with his children.

What did Ida's children gift her
During the Thursday, August 24 event at the five-star Villa Rosa Kempinski, Ida and Raila's children stood up to thank them.
In a moving speech in a video shared by Mungai Eve, Ida's youngest daughter and East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) representative, Winnie Odinga, said it was time they, too, support their mother.
Her siblings, Rosemary Odinga, Raila Odinga jr and his wife, Yvonne Wambui Kibukosya, flanked her.
Winnie celebrated her mother for her struggles before gifting her a KSh 1 million cheque that she said would go towards the Ida Odinga Library Research and Resource Centre at her former school in Ogande Girls High School, Homa Bay.
"So, the four of us here said it was our turn to support you, and we know how precious the Ida Odinga Library is. So we have donated this cheque of KSh 1 million to the Ida Odinga Library. Mum, we love you, we'll always be there for you. Thank you for being here with us," she said.
What happened at Ida Odinga's birthday?
The politician landed in the country from the UK just in time for Ida's special day, coinciding with their 50th marriage anniversary.
Top celebrities attended the celebrations, all dressed to impress.
Footage captured at the party depicted Prince Indah serenading Ida as Jessy acted as the MC. The couple sat at the stage of the venue on classy white chairs.
"Baba will also sing for Mama a birthday song," Jessy said, amusing the guests.
