Nakuru - President William Ruto has maintained that not have a power-sharing deal with Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party.

During the Bahati Affordable Housing Programme launch on Tuesday, August 22, the head of state maintained that Kenyans were done with elections.

In a thinly veiled attack on Azimio, Ruto stated that certain individuals are still nagging the government with talks to create jobs for themselves.

"So is it after the election that we start planning for the leaders again? Didn’t you plan everything? There are guys who are going around saying they want us to talk so that work can be found…half a loaf, I don’t know what. Do you want us to continue with this half-loaf business? I told those people to go away completely. The work of the leaders was finished last year on the ninth of August. The only work left is for these hustlers," he said

Why talks won't yield anything

On Tuesday, August 22, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua suggested the ongoing bipartisan talks would not yield anything to the advantage of Kenyans.

The deputy president claimed that Raila approached Ruto for a share of government and ambassadorial posts, but all were in vain.

He revealed that Raila was instead offered an unmentioned amount of money on condition that he quit his anti-government politicking.

"There is nothing else he wants. He wanted a handshake and three ambassadorial posts, but we declined his demands. We told him if he wants some money then we can discuss," he said.

Jeremiah Kioni dismisses talks

Earlier, embattled Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni said the issues the government slated for deliberations with the Azimio have nothing to do with Kenyans.

Kioni said the lack of a common ground as regards the issues to be discussed would jeopardise the dialogue.

According to him, the intended object of the engagements may not be realised if the sides will maintain their respective hardline stances.

"If you ask me, some of us are worried if there is any progress we are making. You can't say you are going to meet, yet you have not decided on the agenda for which you are meeting. I don't see if the discussions will be meaningful, it will be all play," he said during an interview with Radio 47.
