It has been three years since Baby Angel's mum abandoned her when she was only a few days old, and now, her benefactor Njeri Wa Migwi reports she is thriving.
In 2021, Jose, the baby's dad, came home only to realise that his allegedly quarrelsome wife had taken her child from a previous relationship and ran away, leaving the baby and her husband of two years to fate.
"Three days after birth, she was caught slapping the baby after she removed the peg from the umbilical cord. When the neighbours threatened to report her, she fled and left the baby. She came back and abused everyone, stayed for five days and while Jose was at a kibarua, she left with the child she got from a previous relationship and was not seen to date," said Njeri on Facebook in 2021.
Njeri took the baby to Getrudes Hospital, and soon enough, he added 600gms, from 3.3kgs to 3.9kgs.

She also moved him from Mukuru to Soweto, next to their office, so she could check on the baby regularly.
"She was left at his house when she was two weeks old, had malnutrition, and the baby was starving. We helped the dad take care of her, until she was better for about a year," said the human rights activist.
In a recent update, Njeri said that Baby Angel, who looks much bigger and healthier now, is doing well under the care of her father.
"He still lives near the office and brings her from time to time while he is working," said the gender activist.
"As is our norm, we gave him clothes and toys. We saved this baby's life, and seeing her grow like this, makes us proud," she added.
In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Njeri revealed that Jose, who now looks happier and more composed, is proud of how far he has come.
"When he came with the baby in 2021, he didn't even know how to care for a child. We took him through classes, and he learnt how to feed the baby, change diapers and generally care for a baby. He is so proud of himself," she said.
"He stays with the baby, so it was important to build him to do those things without assistance. In the past, he used to bring the child so we could change diapers for him," she recalled.
Man left with twins after wife dies
In August 2023, Bradley Wanyonyi became a single dad of premature twins after his wife's death during childbirth.
In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Wanyonyi recounted his wife's easy pregnancy turning critical, leading to premature birth at home, her tragic death and his determined efforts to care for the fragile newborn twins.
Amid grief, Wanyonyi sought help for his premature babies' survival, facing hurdles to find specialised milk and appealing for assistance in raising them as a single hustling father.
